Abby Golembiewski
Rancocas Valley
Youth Secretariat
Hi everyone! My name is Abby Golembiewski. I am a senior from the Rancocas Valley Delegation. This year, I will be serving as one of the two Lead Youth Secretariats. This is my fourth year participating in MUN. I have been a part of SocHum, Historical Security Council, and WHO over the last three years.
At school and outside of MUN, I am also the President of my school’s Key Club, the secretary for NHS, the advertising chair for Thespian Society and No Place 4 Hate, and a member of a few other honor societies and clubs. Through MUN and the World Health Organization, I found that I am really interested in global health and science, so as of right now, I am planning on majoring in some STEM related major.
Some things I enjoy outside of school are traveling, reading (specifically at the beach), music, and spending time with friends and family. My favorite artist is and always will be Taylor Swift. I am so excited for her new album Midnights!! Over the summer, I went to Estonia and Sweden with my school’s Chamber Choir. I loved getting to explore other countries’ cultures. One of my life goals is to go to all seven continents (yes Antarctica too…don’t ask me how yet), so I have three down as of right now!
To give you some advice for MUN, I would say plan ahead. I myself am a planner, but this is especially important if it is your first time participating in an in-person conference or traveling without your family. Although it is so much more fun at Hershey, it is also a bit stressful to plan for. Make sure you pack everything you think you might need for a weekend away from home! Pack different types of shoes (we do a lot of walking), at least one casual outfit (we are not always in business attire), and in my opinion, the most important thing to pack… snacks. I am a really picky eater, and I was very thankful my first year that I brought extra snacks. Also, make sure you do not forget basic things like phone chargers, toiletries, etc.
With that, I hope everyone has a great time at conference this year! See you then!
