International Security & Crime
Hello Delegates! My name is Joy Papazian and I will be chairing in International Security & Crime at the 2022 Model United Nations conference. I am a senior at Hunterdon Central High School and this will be my third year in MUN. Aside from MUN, I am a part of my school’s Mock Trial Team, the president of my school’s Mental Health advocacy club, and co-founder of the Students Against Racism club. In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, going out to eat with my friends, thrift shopping, listening to music/driving, and traveling. A fun fact about me is that I am currently learning how to speak/write Armenian and am hoping to become trilingual in the near future (I speak French too)!
Every year at conference, I look forward to meeting new people and learning through fellow delegates. Over the past few years, I have had some of the best experiences at conference debating and working with others towards a common goal. It’s always fun collaborating with people who share the same passions for advocacy and debate. My favorite memory of MUN so far is playing cards against humanity with my committee at the 2020 conference. If I could give first years any advice, it would be to trust yourself and go for it when speaking. Confidence is key and it is so important to believe in the power of your voice while speaking during debate and understand that the ideas you contribute during debate are valued. We all can have self-doubt sometimes, but I have learned to not get caught up in it and let it affect your performance. Remember that you all have something so special to bring to the table! I look forward to meeting each of you at the 2022 conference!
